Handy Gun Care Hacks

Here’s an idea – act like you care about all of that firearm hardware you spent so much money on and take note of these helpful pointers to make gun care fun and easy (not as difficult as you are about to make it).

One. Don’t drop your shotgun on the ground. This applies to fishing reels as well. Wet or dry, dirt finds its way into the most inconvenient places and leads to aggravation.

Two. After hunting on a damp morning, don’t lay your rifle down without at least a simple wipe down. That can be a dry clean off, or with something like a silicone cloth. Wet gunmetal equals peppered rust.

Three. Don’t spray gun cleaner all over a firearm and expect that’s it. Solvent is intended to be wiped off while explaining to yourself why you hit the wood stock and plastic parts as well. And, you should then lubricate.

Four. Don’t totally disassemble your firearms unless you know how to put it back together again. Locate the disassembly instructions first.

Five. Take the time to do basic maintenance instead of pretending that carbon fouling is no big deal so that what happens next doesn’t cost you even more time and money.
