Gun Care Bag Wishlist

Thinking about range bags that include or are focused on being inclusive of gun care products, what the sport shooter wants is what counts. The question is, how significant are firearm maintenance products. You certainly don’t want to take up too much room.

In a gun range bag, you have your eyes and ears (eye and ear protection), firearms of course, ammunition, hopefully a lead removal wipe product for your hands, and possibly some snacks and other items – maybe a place for the wallet, keys and cellphone, if you are comfortable or I should say uncomfortable enough to put them in a bag vs. your pants or jacket pockets.

Then comes the specs. If you are only bringing handguns, then a 12″-18″ in length should do it, not including the handle. Most bags are nylon, while others could be canvas, hard plastic or animal skin possibly. And usually, most firearm enthusiasts stick to drab colors – black, navy or maybe camo tan or green, with some exceptions. And, most bags are padded, if not locked somehow. Safety and security always come to mind.

As for gun care products, maybe you include a kit, but you certainly want some kind of wet wipe, some dry cotton as well, and possible a bore rope and a small can of gun spray. Once you get into full rod kits with accessories and liquids, it can get a little messy, assuming you have the work area figured out. A mat is usually difficult to transport compactly.
