Having moved out of the Northeast, I no longer have to listen to neighbors who as gun owners live in fear of scrutiny in anti-gun States, nor do I have to go through the harassing process of purchasing a firearm when it is already a Constitutional right. Now, as I experience truer personal freedom in the South – which is a bit ironic – I finally get to experience a low stress and unapologetic existence, at least as gun ownership goes. Ideally, we shouldn’t even need to think about big brother encroaching on our lives. I thought privacy in a free nation was a thing. Good news, it is.

For me, this is part of my livelihood. In other words, if we lived in a world without guns, I would have a product line without customers. The same could easily go for fishing reels, or other sporting goods that need a good lube every once in a while. It’s also a fun recreation that’s shared with many interesting, like-minded people. Maybe it’s the sights and sounds, or it could just be the sense of accomplishment you get with high scores. Paper targets don’t lie, too much.

I know for myself that cleaning and lubricating a firearm is a bit therapeutic and certainly fulfilling in that you can take good care of your hardware investment, and of course, clean up your carbon-coated mess. I know not everybody is passionate about that. However, if you do the right thing, it does make sense to do it right.

It shouldn’t be political to be involved in a sport that has been around since before our founding fathers ensured its existence by putting it down on paper. It also shouldn’t be up for debate when shooting sports can quickly turn into a self-defense scenario, though I understand how pro-crime advocates can lobby for that. We are a nation of laws and rights that are supposed to ensure our happiness, along with some other positive verbiage.

So, go to the gun range. Look in the case at the gun store. Go hunting. Train for personal security, and safety. And, have peace of mind that you are not the bad guys. You are just living your life. You are free to do so.
