Products that are universally used by Handgun, Rifle and Shotgun users
Gun Lubricant – gun grease, gun lube or CLP oil, and don’t forget gun spray
Gun Cleaner – bore solvent, cleaner degreaser, aerosol spray, copper solvent
Gunmetal Finishing Products – cold bluing, blue and rust remover
Gun Cleaning Rod – portable / sectional, or one piece, ideally coated steel
Bore Cleaning Rope – usually with an embedded bronze brush
Gun Cleaning Kit – in a hard case or soft case, or loose, it doesn’t matter
Firearms Wipes – Silicone gun cleaning wipe, lead removal wipe or other
Bronze Brush – rod attachment. better ones are built with a brass fitting
Nylon Brush – same concept as bronze, but delivers a gentler scrubbing
Brass Jag – this rod attachment is used to hold a cotton patch down a bore
Cotton Mop – used for applying either bore cleaner or lubricant oil
Cotton Patches – round or square, an essential for bore cleaning
Gun Rod accessories – all of the above are sized to fit the right caliber bore
Bore Guide – sometimes used, this item helps guide a gun rod down a bore
Gun Cloth – a general clean, dry wipe down product or possibly treated
Gun Polish – not as common, as it can interfere with gun cleaner and gun lube products though I appreciate the idea of enhancing presentation
Wood Treatment – wood stock finish, stock stain and wood stock oil options
Gun Care Case – besides a kit, a user may store products in a special bag
Gun Care Tools – gunsmithing tools for consumers can be very handy for DYI
Other Accessories – nylon or bronze bristle utility brush, cotton swabs on a stick, either taper tipped or jumbo head style for hard to reach application points. another classic choice is the wire twist style brush for added scrubbing action.
Gun Cleaning Mat – provides a clean surface that will hopefully also provide organizational support when you disassemble a firearms before cleaning. this also prevents you from losing small gun parts.
Gun Cleaning Vise – provides a stable platform for cleaning and lubricating a long gun, especially when running a firearms cleaning rod down a bore
All of the above is available for use, though there are some gun owners who choose not to take care of their firearms, even though it is an investment not only in hardware, but personal safety. It is worth noting, once damage is done to a gun, you can’t reverse what has been neglected. It’s up to you.
Tetra Gun care offers products that cover most of what is mentioned above.
