I hope I covered most of everything with this blog title. Just trying to make sure I get everyone’s attention.
This latest election shows us that believing in the second amendment is not exclusively appreciated by MAGA Republicans. I think my faith is restored if not renewed in America overall as the majority of people still value maintaining law and order, let alone our civilization.
Unfortunately, gun ownership is the only reality, if not a blessing for the American people, to ensure both our rights and our personal security. Our forefathers could not have envisioned our current condition, but they had the foresight enough to put things in place that would cover a lot of ground.
We need to move forward, and transcend politics. The same can’t be said for our favorite sports teams vs. love of country. In either case, some people just can’t give up their biases. This is true in religion as well, and that in itself is a permanent fixture in this overall discussion of where we stand.
I hope you agree with the following points, which you don’t have to as a point that stands on its own merit, but here we go:
- Patriotism shouldn’t be political. It is our grounding — for all of us. It is who we are as opposed to somebody else, somewhere else. That is why the world universally recognizes flags, as we do languages and cultures. These are natural things to cling to, and do so without guilt.
- If we are going to come together as a nation, or as a society, we need to see eye-to-eye on our common thread.
- On the local level, community is the fabric that binds us. We all need to feel safe walking down Main Street and engaging neighbors in a civil way so we can’t let anyone disrupt that foundationary truth.
- We must respect and protect the institution of religion and the diversity that comes from that in our free nation. Otherwise, this great experiment will come under duress. The exception is chaos in disguise.
- And lastly, we must all agree on our Constitutional right to bear arms, even if we as individuals do not want to own, possess or use them. This is about rights, among many others that need to be protected and ensured for all.
My own personal perspective beyond this doesn’t and shouldn’t matter to anybody else. This is important as it pertains to every citizen’s right to privacy. Speaking of our rights, we need to recommit to educating We The People on civics. I get the definite impression that this has been overlooked for too long. Without knowledge of truth, the power to corrupt has an upper hand. Social media has become a double edged sword that has entertained way too much falsehood, so let’s fix it.
I have made peace with those around me in my life who are opposed to my views politically and in other ways. I think minimizing exposure to them is the best course. I can’t easily change their minds and they are entitled to their views, so I lean towards letting them go. I view them as lost. Bye.
Life goes on.
If you want to lead a happy life, I think our time is so precious that arguing if not name calling is simply not productive. So, if you disagree, I bless you off.
Buh bye.
Take a good look around. If you are surrounded with like-minded people, your life will probably be happier. Less stress or anxiety. Less aggravation. More in common. Deeper friendships. Sustained relationships. Reliability. Trust. Peace.
Life is already complicated enough.
Obviously, I support gun ownership and gun rights advocacy so working within the firearms industry is a comfort zone for me. Even then, I will never agree with everybody on every subject but walking around a gun show or a gun shop does make socializing a bit more pleasant.
It is quite a fascination phenomena to get along almost immediately with total strangers. The tip of a hat. A nod. For some, a secret handshake, but that’s not needed. Even a well designed tee can make for a great walking billboard to represent where we stand. We all know who is who and what we agree on, all the while trying to get past our confusion with those who disagree because we are all neighbors and we need to make this work, for our future.
Here are some truths that you are probably aware of:
- Adversarial forces committed to taking your guns are very real.
- People with very different views are a reality.
- Citizens with mental health issues are a concern.
- Criminality is a threat to our lives, for sure.
- Government continues to encroach on our lives.
- Life is getting more and more complicated.
- Living is becoming more expensive. I assume you agree.
- Technology is unavoidably changing our reality.
- Time itself brings us discomfort, overall, through change.
- We find it harder to understand one another and come together.
- Hate is the tool of evil. Don’t give in.
What all of this means is that we need to try harder and be more cognizant of this reality. You have to be up to the challenge of being, understanding, forgiving and adaptive. That is the key to success.
