Best Synthetic CLP Gun Oil

Tetra Gun Triple Action CLP is most authentic, most reliable choice

There are so many companies (and individuals in wood sheds) offering products that they call CLP, all of whom are claiming they have the greatest product in the world. That’s nice. I remember my first beer.

The Tetra Gun Triple Action CLP is a formula that most authentically adheres to the U.S. Military’s originally approved formula, which was made by an unnamed company. Decades later, the Army eliminated the most valuable ingredient – the PTFE particle. Long story.

Please note, at the time of the Vietnam War, the Army was desperate to help with the operability of the original Colt M16 in that environment, and under those conditions. So, original CLP was sourced as a “temporary” fix and the Army, for decades, couldn’t see past this for a better solution despite the bureaucracy of the Army Arsenal system. Only recently have the approved other CLPs (only) including a new focus on biobased products. Big mistake dumbing down performance and soldier survivability in exchange for appeasing an environmental agenda.

Right thru today, Tetra Gun’s Triple Action formula has compromised nothing and still delivers a truly synthetic fluoropolymer CLP gun oil for all firearms. Tetra’s CLP incorporates its proprietary fluoropolymer lubricant technology into every bottle to bolster the other important ingredients, including an organic rust inhibitor and the synthetic base oil, among other things.

Tetra Gun offers that in both dropper tip- and pump spray bottles, as well as disposable wipe cloths. Tetra Gun Spray II lubricant aerosol is related and should be considered a CLP as well since it has the cleaner function.

Here are the choices when it comes to synthetic fluoropolymer lubricants.

  • Cleaner, Lubricant, Protectant oil
  • Lubricant oil consistency or higher viscosity but parallel
  • Gun grease which is used for high wear parts applications

The above all serves the needs of cleaning and lubricating gunmetal for any and all firearms.

Handguns, Rifles and Shotguns all need to be cleaned and lubricated after a shoot and people deal with this in different ways, but CLP oil should cover most of your needs, especially if we are talking about light duty use. In different scenarios, gun solvent aka bore solvent may be needed for heavy carbon- or hard bore fouling. Tetra Gun Action Blaster or the Tetra Gun Copper Solvent will do the job, or the water-based Cleaner Degreaser for light accumulation. Though, if you use Tetra Gun Grease, Lubricant and/or Triple Action in the first place, a light dry wipe down and swabbing may be all you need – depending.
