Looking back at the 40-year history of the Tetra brand, we sometimes overlook the company’s history and application successes with industrial customers.
After pioneering synthetic fluoropolymer lubricants, over time, the category of PTFE type lubricants grew into what is today a mature business with many companies offering grease, oil and semifluid as part of the general class of products.
All kinds of industrial manufacturing companies over the years have adopted specialty uses for applying Tetra lubricants to give themselves a competitive advantage over what I call commodity lubes. Many of those are low-grade, super cheap petroleum-based formulas or worse. There are still some popular products out there that are the most simple, low performing materials that are chosen purely on cost.
But, for the company that understands and appreciates the need for lubrication that performs at a higher level to ensure for mechanical reliability and longevity between maintenance cycles, Tetra lubricants have been proven many times over to do the trick.
Some customer success stories have been in the aerospace and defense space, while other companies have applied the lube to automotive and other uses such as fine mechanisms like switches, gauges and some very obscure though critical moving parts, many of which I don’t quite fully understand. And then, there is surface treatment. One company literally mops a giant feed chute with Tetra to allow for sawdust or paper pulp to just slide right off while protecting the area from buildup.
So, it ain’t just for gunmetal, or fishing reels or even skateboards for that matter. Anywhere metal touches metal there could be a great application for this technology. There always has been.
I know a few people in the locksmith business who use the spray to free up some worn or clogged tumblers.
The U.S. Space Force uses some on a non-ballistic gun that is used.
Then there’s the company that makes state-of-the-art vending machines with it.
The possibilities are endless, as is the case with many things, but this is our story. There are many choices out there, but Tetra is a reliable choice for so many applications – cold temp, high temp, saltwater protection, long lasting, humid environment, galvanic corrosion, high volume usage – you name it.
