Cold Blue aka Bluing Gunmetal the Best Way

It is widely recommended to use steel wool to scrape off inconsistencies in the metal surface. That is a nice idea, but for the best results, you don’t want any surface flaws. Nothing will match the consistent and thorough surface prep job that Tetra Gun Blue & Rust Remover will do. Highly recommended.

After that, you can apply Tetra Gun Liquid Blue to coat the gunmetal with a consistent bluing. You can use up to 7 dips / coating before your gradations finally get to black. Follow that up with gun spray to stop the chemical reaction and since off with water.

Cold blue is not going to match the potential of hot bluing but you do want to choose the right product, and follow application instructions. Even then, you need to take care and show off your skills and your patience.

Either way, these two formulas begin to work immediately and literally on contact. These products are categorized as corrosive so you should wear gloves and be careful not to let it leach onto other materials. You don’t know what damage could occur.

Tetra Gun has offered these products for many years and they are respected as the go-to brand for many gunsmiths and gun owners worldwide.
