Top Semiauto Handguns and Respected Revolver Pistols

These are the best modern handguns that the most experts agree on

Sig Sauer P365 gets top billing but as a traditionalist the Sig P226 and P229 are plenty reliable. Personal preferences always factor in, including comfort.

Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS and variants though I personally like the standard G17 if not the G43. Splitting hairs.

CZ Shadow and Canik TS2 are a tie for third. the CZ 75 Legend is a good old school choice.

HK VP9 and Springfield Armory Echelon in 9mm are solid offerings from long-standing reliable brands. The Springfield XD is the traditional choice.

Kimber 1911 KDS9C gets high marks.

Next is the Wilson Combat SFX9 4″ barrel. The brand has a strong reputation but with that comes a higher price.

Walther PPK and S&W M&P9 Shield are other traditional choices, but they are not at the top of this list, along with other known brands like Taurus and the plethora of younger brands that didn’t make the cut because they are too new.

There is one exception. Staccato. This is apparently a hot brand among competitive shooters, especially their premium XC or XL model. Shadow Systems and Tanfoglio.

Please note, I have had little or no range time with most of these models, but lots of concencus from within the ranks of firearms experts.

In revolvers, Korth pistols are just substantial and worth every bit of respect, and the Ruger GP100 is a solid sidearm for hunters. Get that in .357 caliber or do the same with the Colt Python.
