NSN Grade Gun Lube Spray

Really, something better than NSN grade, and superior to military grade

Tetra Gun has always been proud of its original Tetra Gun Spray that has been on the market for over 30 years, but with the changes in government regulations and the need for something gentler, a synthetic safe formula was developed.

More recently, a Spray II formula was introduced that addressed the same needs for an aerosol that could deliver Tetra Gun’s fluoropolymer lubricant protectant gun treatment in a spray format, with a few tweaks in the lab. Then, Tetra added Triple Action name as an alternative but it could be a little confusing since this is not the same as what is in the Triple Action CLP liquid formula.

Aerosols are different because you have to change the delivery package, namely adjustments to the carrier solvents and propellant package. After much testing and trials, Tetra Gun has a very nice product, especially since it doesn’t have that wet, oily finish that many lube sprays have. It is subtle but very effective, achieving the goal of lubricating and protecting while minimizing buildup, especially in dusty or dirty environments.

Now, there is something new – an NSN grade formula that is a non-aerosol pressurized can, which eliminates the need to use aerosol chemicals, which by nature, counteract the corrosion fighting properties of the lube. Instead, this modern can concept only requires nitrogen (which is non-flammable), along with isopropyl alcohol as the carrier. That, combined with our grade zero grease lube that has specs that exceed military requirements, delivers the best spray lube product known to man … really.

The other nice feature of this newer can technology is that you can spray it at any angle, even upside down, unlike aerosols.

Tetra Gun spray is still on the market and will continue to be the go-to, but for those who want to spend more for something that delivers off-the-chart performance, then the new Obex Prime Lubricant Protectant spray is for you. The material is comparably proven on advanced weapons systems like military aircraft gatling guns, miniguns and 50 cal. chain guns and alike, but it will work on any firearm. Gunmetal is gunmetal.

And yes, this might be engineered for the consumer, but if you have it there shouldn’t be any reason to complain. Imagine firing more rounds thru a bore before relubrication. While some gun lube brands tout 100s of rounds, this material could hold up for well over 1,000 when used properly. Big difference.

Really cool hardware is great, but without operational reliability, you can be quite disappointed.

And now that I think of it, saying NSN grade just doesn’t do it justice considering the kind of disappointing choices that the arsenal system has made with lubricants over the years. I will never forget how they tried to undermine and box out Mike Dillon of Dillon Aero over their own bureaucratic pride because he accomplished something that they couldn’t and proved them wrong. Now look at the legacy of the minigun. Perfection.
