Beginning with the invention of the firearm industry’s first synthetic lubricant and gun grease formulas in the 1980s, Tetra Gun has been at the forefront of the industry based on its technical expertise and scientific know-how. To date, the company has developed two dozen formulas covering different types of firearm lubricants and gun cleaning liquids from carbon cleaner and copper solvent to a world renowned cold blue metal treatment. Needless to say, not every gun solvent is the same considering different strengths and specialized uses.
There are other decent gun lube products out there, of course, but with anything, you need to know how to use firearms maintenance products as effectively as intended to avoid problems. You can begin by not mixing different company’s chemicals together. That can make a mess, or worse.
Grease is not grease, and oil is not oil. The same mantra applies to bore solvent and other cleaning solutions and surface treatments. That includes understanding the potential chemical interactions between products when used together, and the pitfalls that every consumer potentially faces. There are many gun owners that might think this is all simple, but to us, mastering the subject is important. We’d like to think you want to take the best possible care of your hardware portfolio. The same goes with your mindset about range safety. It’s a mindset.
Beginning with the caliber you are working with, your selection of cleaning rod, bore rope, gun cleaning kit and all of the possible accessories is important – from the patch holder to the size of cotton patches, to the brush, mop and jag – all matter to us. Of course, the magic is in the gun care chemical formula you choose, as it penetrates and treats gunmetal under the surface. To lube and protect, it’s a good thing.
Of course, follow the gun manufacturer’s instructions even if the user’s manual is vague if not downright pathetic. This is unfortunately common, especially since they like to generalize even the mention of using a gun oil.
